What kind of power would you like?
I would embellish the power of being able to make trees grow as fast as the humans cut them down.
How would it manifest? What would enable it?
This would manifest through being able to fly to all corners of the world where deforestation is being carried out and magically re-carpet the barren land with young sapling trees that are native to that area, so the the animals can return and thrive and rejoice in their eco system as though it was untouched. This power would be enable by an enchanted tree (the mother of all trees) in my garden that weeps when there is danger for our oxygen friends. The tree starts to bleed sap and the sap draws a map where I need to fly to! Rebuild ecosystems to save the build!
Who is your favourite superhero/person/public figure, contemporary or imagined?
I have many favorite people but a woman of courage that I admire would be Joan of Arc.
What do you admire most about Frida Kahlo and "Freda" Josephine Baker?
Frida Kahlo... I admired her ability to turn her life circumstances into art! To be proud and to accept her looniness, she chose art to rise her up as a respected woman and not a victim. Phenomenal! And Freda Josephine Baker, a leader and a star! I admire her stamina... her ability to not give in to the opinions of her family and to really seek out her destiny, she almost carved it to the way she wished it and as though she was chosen by god, became a leader in the civil rights movement because she had status, my hat tips!
What do you think of when you think of them?
I think of deep pain... I think of strength, courage, power, vulnerability, masks, leaders, loneliness - of what women are no matter their age and race.
What would you change in Melbourne? Australia? The world?
In Melbourne I would clean the Yarra River. In Australia I would stop our secret lands being invaded by gas mines! Put a stop to Gina Rinehart. In the World - I would stop fishing in the last eco system on earth - the Ross Sea.
Are there any other issues that are important to you? Locally? Globally?
The potential closere of Aboriginal communities in Australia! Close to my heart as I grew up in an Aboriginal community in North Queensland.
Do you feel like change is possible in these areas? How?
It would take a lot of protest for this to change but yes it is possible - we are living in 2015! And we live in Australia - the land of the free 'supposedly'. I would also give back all the $$'s cut from the arts council and arts funding bodies in Australia!
Do you think your ideas could change anything?
I think that we all have a voice and yes - with the right people supporting you your voice can be loud.
Are you comfortable speaking your mind/putting ideas into the world?
Yes I am.
Do you consider yourself a feminist? Womanist? Why/why not? What does this mean to you?
I consider myself a realist - a person who is fair and objective. I feel grateful that I am a woman and that women are at the head of creation. We are creators not victims and as every day passes our opinions matter more, some of the biggest corporations in the world are run my women... and farms are run by women, families... i think some weak men (especially in this country) have trouble surrendering to this and so we see violence against women rise... I do not support that. They say that if every human learned to meditate at age 8 we would have peace on earth - so I believe that it is our schools that should implement this globally - start with the generation we are cultivating now - sow the seeds the future now.
How often do you subconsciously/consciously think about your desired superpower when you dress on a daily basis?
I think of this often! Haha-even today as I walked to the printer in an office to print on paper... I see the pain of plantations and forests - when we pay for anything and take a receipt... when I walk in the most enriching gardens and celebrate the growth of trees and life... I want to heal that pain - I wish to stroke the hair of earth as if she were a child.
