What kind of power would you like?
To allow people to physically throw away their pain and excess baggage, to simply move on, instead of clinging onto the past.
How would it manifest? What would enable it?
I would enable it by turning their emotional baggage into physical items and then just start removing the materials off their shoulders. They will always have the memories, even if they’re negative, since tough times help a person to grow, but by materialising the issue and physically throwing away, it can help clear and open one's mind to live a less complicated life.
Who is your favourite superhero/person/public figure, contemporary or imagined?
Thing is one of my favourite fictional superhero, mainly because his exterior portrays him as a rocky, hard creature but inside he's just a bug sweetheart with a heart of gold. Besides the fictional character, my Mum is the greatest hero I've ever witnessed. She's human with flaws of course, but never have I seen such strength, courage and power that can come out of one single human being. She truly is a great inspiration.
What do you admire most about Frida Kahlo and "Freda" Josephine Baker?
The courage and will to join forces together to achieve anything and everything they set their minds to. Mainly, I admire them for how they lived their lives on their own terms, challenging the world and themselves.
What do you think of when you think of them?
Art, strength and dreaming big.
What would you change in Melbourne? Australia? The world?
For people to have more of an open mind and accept others for who they are rather than what "society" dictates one to be.
Are there any other issues that are important to you? Locally? Globally?
Discrimination against anything and everything, child trafficking, gender equality and the list can go on; however I believe the world can continue to spin without these three issues in picture.
Do you feel like change is possible in these areas? How?
Absolutely, all three can be minimised to a great deal over the years or centuries to come. One must just want to have the will and fire to create a change and it can snowball into a bigger act.
Do you think your ideas could change anything?
I believe my ideas can only feed another point of view into people's mind. At the end of the day, they will either choose to agree with me and join me or disagree and avoid. This will however not stop me from expressing my views and opinions to make our world a better place.
Are you comfortable speaking your mind/putting ideas into the world?
It's what I do best.
Do you consider yourself a feminist? Womanist? Why/why not? What does this mean to you?
Yes and No. It is true that women around the world are not getting equal rights as men, and I do believe this needs to change, as it is leading to unnecessary deaths caused by excursion of man "power". In saying that, I believe that one should not give importance to gender. We should begin to see everyone as just human beings, who are either living their life to the fullest, or trying to survive day by day. It's time both men and women unite together and see the bigger picture in life rather than our minute gender differences.
How often do you subconsciously/consciously think about your desired superpower when you dress on a daily basis?
Not often, but I tend to think about it when I meet people who cling on to things from their past and don't realise how much it's affecting their present and future. Sometimes I wish I could be a windscreen wiper, clearing people's vision so that they can enjoy the view and a lovely ride, instead of being stuck in a foggy claustrophobic cave.
