If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Invisibility
Who is your favourite superhero, contemporary or imagined?
Batman
What inspires you about Frida and/or Freda?
Frida Kahlo’s fearlessness, sense of style, use of colour and the way that she emphasised her mo and monobrow, challenged conventional perception of beauty.
What would you change in Melbourne? Australia? The world?
People's narrow mindedness. Greed.
Are there any other issues that are important to you? Locally? Globally?
Consumerism. Equality. Transparency.
Do you feel like change is possible in these areas? How?
I would like to think so...however, at times it’s hard to be positive. There are small changes happening, I think it comes through awareness, particularly through social media; which reaches a large number of the population.
Do you think your ideas could change anything?
I think that everyone who shares their views or ideas is making change- may it be small or large.
Are you comfortable speaking your mind/putting ideas into the world?
It depends on the situation. Again, through social media, it is possible to share your views passively; however, I think it is effective due to the amount of people that are exposed to them.
Do you consider yourself a feminist? Womanist? Why/why not? What does this mean to you?
I don't like to use labels as such; I'm not a conventional or stereotypical feminist, I like to think of myself more as wahine toa, which translates to 'strong woman' in Maori. To me it encapsulates the sass, strength, take no shit, intelligence, confidence and comfort in your own skin.
How often do you subconsciously/consciously think about your desired superpower when you dress on a daily basis?
I don't think about it at all, I prefer to be seen-it would be pretty useful to escape from villains.
