What kind of power would you like?
I'd like to be psionic. This would involve powers of telepathy and telekinesis.
How would it manifest?
Crazy big hair, like each strand is reaching out into your mind, into the universe.
Black is my favourite colour, or tone if you want to get technical, so I guess everything would be black and understated and once the power is enabled I start looking like storm from the X-Men series (in particular, Halle Berry as storm, because she has looks to die for), she was also a character I admired for her strength and ferocity.
What would enable it?
It would be self-enabled. One blink and I'm a psychic diva.
What do you admire most about Frida Kahlo and "Freda" Josephine Baker?
I don't know a great deal about Frida Kahlo or Josephine Baker, but from what I have read and seen, they seemed like confident women. I see them as liberated females, whose self-awareness and strength manifested in a sense of certainty in their sexuality and a comfort in being sexual creatures, a truth about women I think many struggle to grasp.
What do you think of when you think of them?
Confidence. Awareness. Strength. Sexuality.
Who is your favourite superhero - contemporary or imagined?
I have always had an affinity to Wonder Woman, I guess because she was strong, intelligent, and threatening! She wasn't another hyper-sexualised female character, she was assertive and dominating without undermining her femininity. Her speech was eloquent, her movement was elegant, and most importantly men feared her.
What would you change in Melbourne? Australia? The world?
I would hope for equity, and greater tolerance and acceptance of individual diversity. That we would allow others to be their desired selves, and that we would not impose our judgements, views, beliefs, or ignorance onto those that differ from us. That we would work to better ourselves and the lives of others. That we would be more selfless and sympathetic. And that we would let go of all the negativity that anchors us to our superficial lives.
