What kind of power would you like?
I would like to make people happy and make them smile and forget their problems.
How would it manifest? What would enable it?
I would blow glitter at them, and it would make them smile straightaway.
Who is your favourite superhero/person/public figure, contemporary or imagined?
I love Ellen. She is constantly happy and makes other people happy too. She is a bundle of energy and always giving to the people who really need it most.
What do you admire most about Frida Kahlo and "Freda" Josephine Baker?
As silly as it sounds but I like Frida’s eyebrows. These days no female would think about having a monobrow. I grew up with one so I would know :). Besides her aesthetics, it would be the creative mind. I like how she portrayed her disability of having children and put it on a canvas showing to the world when back in the days no one really cared about women and those things weren’t to discuss publicly- a strong woman all up!
Josephine Baker just inspires me to get out there and do it. She started out so poor living in the streets. When she was older, she became a famous, well-known actress. It is incredible how little people had back then and what they did out of their lives. These days we have so many resources and opportunities but we seem not to take them and let them pass by because we are scared- scared of failing and competition.
What do you think of when you think of them?
I feel proud of being a woman but also ashamed of not having achieved anything yet and got going after my dream 100%.
What would you change in Melbourne? Australia? The world?
It would be great if people were less self-involved and self obsessed. Also young girls aiming for illusive unreal beauty images makes me sick. I just want to shake them and tell them they are beautiful as they are. I wished everyone would put their phone away and walk along the street smiling and being happy within themselves and not seeking approval from the digital fake world.
Are there any other issues that are important to you? Locally? Globally?
I don’t like people using people for their advantages. It just makes me sick how people can hurt other people mentally and physically. I just wished everyone would help the other and not seek “what’s in for him/her.”
Do you feel like change is possible in these areas? How?
I think it starts with a bit of faith and a smile.
Do you think your ideas could change anything?
They might not change anything but they might make people happier.
Are you comfortable speaking your mind/putting ideas into the world?
Sometimes I am scared that no one would listen or if they do they won’t care. I tend to keep a lot to myself but it has to get to a point where it just bursts out of me!
Do you consider yourself a feminist? Womanist? Why/why not? What does this mean to you?
I wouldn’t say I am a feminist but I do appreciate powerful women who stand for strength and inner beauty. I don’t like fakeness and girls aiming to be like Kim Kardashian or other brainless plastic “women.” I do like women who embrace their womanhood and keep themselves well together, women who I’ve loved and respect, who might suffer but stay strong and keep a smile on their face.
How often do you subconsciously/consciously think about your desired superpower when you dress on a daily basis?
I dress so I am happy with myself. I don’t care about trends. Whatever makes me be me and makes me feel good about myself, I will wear. And clothes do make people, I believe. I noticed when I wear high heels for example, I feel so good about myself. It makes me feel high. I also get a little bin conceited, so I usually end up wearing sneakers, which keep me on the ground. I do love a lot of manly or boyish things, but I wear it and make it look feminine. I love being a woman, and I think I wear that look pretty well.
