What kind of power would you like?
Hmm. I’m not sure of one I cant decide!!! The power to heal emotional trauma/ wounds, the power to give/spread empathy, the power of eradicating poverty, the power to make anyone laugh, the power to turn hate and anger into love, the power to feel and know what another person is thinking and feeling.
How would it manifest? What would enable it?
I would blow it like a kiss and it would spread. I would feel their hurt, need and my heart would throb to alert me.
What do you admire most about Frida Kahlo and "Freda" Josephine Baker?
From what I have read about them (they apparently had an affair with each other.. that’s kind of cool!), Frida, along with being a very talented artist, was strong, intelligent, interesting, left wing, and a survivor of physical trauma and illness. Josephine seems awesome. Any civil or human rights activist and feminist gets my vote.
What do you think of when you think of them?
Feminists- creative tick, tick
Who is your favourite superhero- contemporary or imagined?
Daenerys Targaryen (Khaleesi) from Game of Thrones- Survivor of forced marriage and sexual assault of her brother. A Feminist, social activist, championing the rights of slaves and the disempowered, a left wing ruler, empathetic, strong, brave, intelligent, kind, fierce and believes in retribution.
What would you change in Melbourne? Australia? The world?
SOOOOOO much- no more poverty, no violence against women and children, equality, ending war and environmental destruction, no more genocide and human and animal rights abuses- Inject love and empathy into the world!
Are there any other issues that are important to you? Locally? Globally?
SO many! Poverty, isolation, disconnection and oppression.
Nobody should be hungry or homeless or be abused or violated anywhere.
Do you feel like change is possible in these areas? How?
Slowly - we need empathy. We need to all be in touch with our self love and our love of others and other beings. We need to invest in prevention (especially for children in schools). We need proper healing and therapeutic places for so many people.
Do you think your ideas could change anything?
Hopefully!
Are you comfortable speaking your mind/putting ideas into the world?
Most of the time!
Do you consider yourself a feminist? Womanist? Why/why not? What does this mean to you?
Of course. It’s all about equality.
How often do you subconsciously/consciously think about your desired superpower when you dress on a daily basis?
Ooh, I’m not sure- often!
